Some YouTube videos from that Royal Albert Hall Project show (Jan 12) kicking off the New York Guitar Festival are starting to roll in.

I am watching for any videos (or reviews) of Harry Manx and Kevin Breit's performance. If anyone sees this, or others from the show, please post here!

Also, if any poolers went to the show, I would LOVE to read your reviews here!

Here's the 2 videos I found so far:

Oakley Hall -She Belongs To me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KWk5t2-tjU

          Freeman- Desolation Row: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRnIWSnMKRM

Be glad I didn't go; otherwise you'd been reading one of my hard-assed assessment (yes, I noticed the two asses).

I do know Karen had intentions of going; perhaps she went.

just like a woman by the last town chorus.

ER obit link - walter bowart of the east village other. where have all the flowers gone? gone to graveyards every one.

i want to ask clair if he knew him but that would sound facetious around here.

Boy do these for the most part suck. Jim Lauderdale is the only one that comes close and Richard Julian is sort of tolerable. Kelly Joe Phelps is um pleasant enough. Natalie Zuckerman isn't even singing the song's melody. Few of these people make any attempt to shovel a glimpse into the ditch of what each one means.

Okay, I do covers myself as some of you may know. And, I try to be open minded to the covers other fellow artists are doing. Like, we had the Berlin Dylan Bash, and all of those singers performing there did impressive versions of Dylan songs. I mean, they don´t copy, they bring something of their own feelings into the songs. Just check out wilbur´s site: http://www.myspace.com/wilburized

But, these people here do not impress me at all. My opinion: they think they are top of the pop....but they are not! Too much false emotions, too much "look at me, I am the greatest" behaviour.
Did they understand what the songs are about?

It´s just my impression, but I will not listen to them another time, sorry.

Here´s a video of me to compare, I know, I´m not that good guitar player, but this is what I mean when I say: be in the song:

Thanks for the links. Actually, I'm enjoying some of these. I'm just listening to Natalie Zukerman's 4th Time Around. True, she doesn't stick to the original melody (but Bob himself is hardly a role model in that regard). I like her take on the song.

I concur PSB. Thanks for sharing that sad news Karen.

As Richard Julian is the only person I would have gone to hear (well, I wanna talk to him about something)anyway, that's about what I expected.

I don't know, most of these sound quite listenable to me. Not great, but not bad at all. Maybe I'm just not hard-assed enough.

In Natalie Zuckerman's defense, she isn't playing the song's chords either.

And I'm sorry, but those German versions are horrible. No offense, I'm sure a good time was had by all, but if that's what happens when you put your own feelings into the song, maybe it's better to leave your feelings out of it.

Mostly uninspired paint-by-numbers performances. A few exceptions:

Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues : Jesse Harris was good.

Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat" : Chocolate Genius was nice and loud.

Stevie Jackson from Belle and Sebastian seems like a nice person and a Bob fan but his Visions of Johanna was not particularly inspired.

Did not come close to the Lincoln Center Tribute last year but it was free and even though lots of people somehow not crowded.
