I'm going to have to place myself at the end of the vine, due to travel and technical problems. But I am happy this is working and I definitely look forward to seeing it.

Re:Renaldo & Clara 1 Year ago
I really like this movie - I have the 4 hr vers on VHS - It's chuck full of Dylan symbols - and the concert footage is great...

I remember going to see it at a midnight showing around 1980 or so - my gf hated it - kept bugging me to leave - finally she couldnt take it anymore; was about to leave and the ending credits came up - thank God!! - that's the kinda movie it is - it just ends and ya dont know why...

beware spoiler below...

spoiler: though now I realize it was all just a dream...out of his head...as so much Bob is - M&A included....

Post edited by: mcapas, at: 2007/08/09 04:58

Re:Renaldo & Clara 1 Year ago
Houston, we have a problem.

All:

I am sorry for sitting on these so long, but here is what is up. My kids computer has the DVD drive. My Television DVD player sits in the family room and shares the TV with the kids game stations. When I received the DVDs from Nutopia on 8/13, it was late at night. He was kind enough to send the originals and an extra copy he burned (2 disks for the shows, so he sent 4), giving me the option to keep the extra and pass along the originals or burn my own copy and pass all 4 disks to the next in line. I decided I would keep the extras and pass on the originals, but thought it best to check the burn just in case.

I took all disk to work hoping to check them and mail ourt the originals that day. Unfortunately, I tried the burned copy in my work computer with Microsoft Media Player. The software returned an error, saying a missing codec was required. I tried both disks of each set with the same error. I cannot download codecs at work. So, I took them home and got enough time Wednesday to check the originals on the kids computer. I used Media Player again. This time, no error, the movie started, but the sound was choppy. I forwarded through several scene and the choppiness was throughout. I ran out of time and tried again last evening using a different DVD player software. The sound choppiness was still there.

The only thing I didn't try was the DVD player connected to the TV. I will try this tonight, but if they either don't play or play poorly, I am reluctant to pass them on. I will do so, but I need everyone to be forewarned.

So, I'll report back tonight or tomorrow on the final attempt on the DVD player on the TV.

In the meantime, I would ask Nutopia to check his burn and see if it plays OK. Also, assuming the 4 disks I have all continue to exhibit the sound problem, let me know if you want to drop out of the vine.

The possibility exists that the sound problems are not with the disks, but with all my equipment, but that seems unlikely and will be even less likely if there are problems with the DVD/TV attempt.

Re:Renaldo & Clara 1 Year ago
alright thanks for the heads up NHP.

I'm not very computer savvy and I'm pretty electronically challenged in general so I really have no advice to give. But I'd still like to be able to try and take a look at the DVDs eventually.

Hopefully someone can figure something out.

Re:Renaldo & Clara 1 Year ago
I'm so relieved! The disks are fine. I played them on the TV/DVD and there was no problem recognizing them and no sound issue. They will be on the way tomorrow to Buckets Of Moonbeams. Sorry for the delay and the worry, it was all for naught.

If there's still a line, I'd love to get in as well. I had it once, but lost the disc before I watched it and have been trying to get it from torrents for a while, without much luck.

When asking to enter a vine, you should find the most recent listing, copy it, paste it, and put your name at the end so that others reading the thread will know where it stands. Similarly, as the disks are received and mailed, it is also nice, though unneccessary to repeat the vine status with an update of the actions taken:

1. Nutopia - received from Standing On The Gallows (thanks, man) and mailed
2. Not Henry Porter - received from Nutopia on 8/13, mailed to BOM on 8/18
3. Buckets Of Moonbeams
4. mpbdfn
5. alex
6. BabyBlue
7. Ophelia
8. Quanta
9. Henry Porter
10. speedoo
11. Quinn.Eskimo
12. kasper
13.?

Re:Renaldo & Clara 1 Year ago
OI!

I've been distant lately - just got back from a work trip to Florida last week, and I get to go to MI for work tomorrow morning - what a month...

Then I come on here and get scared about the discs RE: NHP issue with them in his computer. You scared me there for a minute, friend! I did indeed watch most of the first disc on my TV-DVD player, and checked all before I sent, so I was thinking ????
Glad to hear it all worked it out in the end! No harm done.

As far as what I've seen so far (being so busy as of late, haven't been able to get through all of it) I'm actually surprised how much I am enjoying this! I was basically anticipating a long piece of uninteresting craziness sandwiched in between some sweet music footage. The craziness is actually kind of cool, and is interesting. I actually find it very fun to watch and the music is fun! So if anyone is like me and has never seen it - well, you may be surprised! I don't really such much of a cohesive point - but I wasn't expecting one.

I was quite hungover when I watched it - and figured I'd put it on as a backdrop to my head pain - something non-intrusive to doze off to if I felt the need. Surprisingly I enjoyed it too much to doze off to, and found it very fun to watch while hung over. I recommend this movie if you experience a rough day-after - and it probably would work well when you are bed ridden with the latest flu bug.

I would not show this to non-dylan fans or people who are not into the kind of gypsy / beat scene that was the RTR.

Cheers all.
