.
Before I speak to what PSB said on Page 2 of this thread, I'm going to summarize the current talk about band member replacements about the tour, only. Some remarks will be repeated. If I've got it right, the talk seems to have begun with this post in Ferris92's thread, April Release?, wherein arthurprecarious said this:

Re:April Release? 1 Week ago

I hear that there are 10 songs which feature some of The Heartbreakers and David Hildago from Los Lobos. Three addittional songs have been recorded for a movie.

Also the two guitarists (Stu and Donny) will be replaced on the upcoming tour. One of the replacements will be Paul
James
.

The emphasis is mine. Three posts later, songanddanceman said, "stu and denny." A day beyond that, precarious added that his source said that:

"...the two guitarists would be replaced."

Then, today, we have a new thread, as follows, titled, Donny is out?:

Could be an option...

The apparent suggestion or inference that Love And Communication seems to be making from their reference to the expectingrain news item [#14], here, is that Hidalgo, a multi-instrumentalist, could be an option to replace multi-instrumentalist, Donny Herron. I agree. He could be. Simply put, it's possible. Now to your remarks, Peter:

Obviously, I missed that. Thanks for the "heads up," Cath.

Possibly, Los Lobos will play on without Hidalgo, which is what Donnie Herron's band did when Herron left to play with Bob. Ftr, and perhaps worth keeping in mind, Hidalgo is a multi-instrumentalist.

Not worth keeping in mind at all.
Sheesh! "At all?"

QUOTE:
Hidalgo pretty much is Los Lobos. He is the obvious leader, the main songwriter, the main singer.
I am aware of that. It doesn't necessarily mean that he doesn't want a change at this juncture in his life, does it?

QUOTE:

Of course not.
QUOTE:
and ESPECIALLY when a band has an entire tour booked.
Well, as you can see, I didn't realize that, initially, until cath brought it to my attention. Had I realized that, in the beginning, I would have likely made a point of saying so. I think you know me well enough to know that that is something I'd probably do.

QUOTE:
There's lots of reasons musicians play on various sessions, but usually it is because a musician has a particular sound that is right for that particular song or recording.

Now, I made reference, above, to one Michele Talo, the person who apparently informed expectingrain.com of the Hidalgo entry (presently, without a citation), in Wikipedia. Talo has an association with the Italian Dylan website, Maggie's Farm, as does one Paolo Vites, an Italian music journalist. They are known to each other. Vites is a person who, because of his occupation, is sometimes privy to information about musicians that isn't immediately available to the public. Vites will be known to some people, at The NEP, as Roving Gambler, his user name (or, one of them) at DylanPool.

is very strange that los lobos will be touring without David Hidalgo

foster's Profile indicates that the user is from Italy, not that that means anything.

Make of all this what you will, people. I've done enough detective work for today.

I am Michele Talo,
I don't know anything... i have only asked at expectingrain.com if they know much about the information that i have read in wikipedia about the fact that Hidalgo will be touring with Bob..
I found the notice only because i search the name Hidalgo when i have heard that he plays accordion on the next album.
Personally I think that it will be very strange because the los lobos are touring.
I have read that Stu will be touring.
I hope that herron remains.

Re:Two New Tour Guitarists? Looks Like It 1 Year, 6 Months ago
Well, let's see:

Stu claiming via his website that he will be on the tour starting in March. Unless Bob is playing a cruel trick he'll be there.

Denny, while not having his website updated in quite some time, also links to the Euro tour dates. If he had resigned or got fired, he probably would have removed the link.

Donnie, well, no info there, as far as I can see. (Doesn't mean anything as far as I'm concerned).

David Hidalgo, he is on tour with Los Lobos until a day before the Dylan tour ends in Dublin. Highly unlikely, not even for a guest stint at the 2nd London show that some people hope to be some sort of album release party.

Paul James, well, interestingly enough he has shows booked through March 13 and - if I'm not mistaken - at least his website lists no further shows beyond that date, although James usually has quite a busy schedule.

It's not unusual for Bob to change something in the band's line-up right after an album session (Campbell joined barely eight weeks after the "TOOM" sessions, Kemper lasted only one more tour after "L&T" and Paul James guesting last fall looked more like an audition 1990-style rather than an old friend joining for an encore or two.

Draw your own conclusions.

This astounds me. The amount of time you would put into clarifying your position on the various rumors surrounding the upcoming tour. I wish I had that free time! The admins need to make you Pooler of the month for reviving the pool with some topically irreverent conversation.

Re:Two New Tour Guitarists? Looks Like It 10 Months, 3 Weeks ago
i like the band the way it is.. and i still wish Denny was there too. Tony Has to stay.. hes the glue that keeps the show thumpin..and i just love to see his smilin face on stage.. Each person brings their own to the band as a whole, and i hope they all keep it comin~~ Thats just my opinion..i know some people want this one or that one to come or go but really..where some bands have fallen apart after so many years together, this one seems to pick up speed. Besides, the point is, no one is going back to What It Was. Thats never been the way of these cowboys, thankfully~~!! Keeping it new, keeping it fresh, keeping it together~!
I cant Wait to see them again!
