Back from Ireland, the Jameson and the Clancy 5 Months ago
I had forgotten how much they really like irish whiskey here!, was again in Carrick on Suir after 18 years, the town where i learned my english at twelve back in early seventies.Maybe you dont know but the Clancy brothers came from this town, and only now i have discovered to my surprise how much some of Bobby,s songs from his early years stem from the Clancy.Bought a two cd Best Of these, and there are times when i think i,m listenning to a bob song beguinning. But its the Clancy, not Bob.

Anyway i think Bob did a very good job taking his ideas from old irish trad songs.Beautiful country, simple and kind people, wont miss a hi from anyone passing by on the road.

I agree 100%. I spent 4 months in Ireland last year and was surprised at how many songs I recognized just from listening to Bob. I also had the true pleasure of seeing Liam Clancy in concert (front row in an extremely small theater) and meeting him after the show. He's one of the friendliest people you will ever meet. During the show he told stories about the early days in Greenwich Village. "It was there that I met a young Bob Dylan. He was an eager kid willing to learn, so I taught him all the songs I knew. And he stole them! Ah well, they're folk songs. That's what they're meant for!" It was a night I'll never forget.
