Bill, it is easy for me to take you for granted, having been enjoying prompt and accurate setlist reporting for many years now so that is almost expected. But it isn't taken lightly, so I will take the time now to express my sincere gratitude for your dedicated service to the Bob Dylan fan community.

The concert in Alicante, more than any other concert I had seen before, seemed like a celebration. The crowd (although not huge), was very appreciative, and were there to have a good time.
No one seems to have mentioned, but there was definitely some type of horns played on the first and maybe second song of the night. The totally reworked version of Maggie's, which Bob clearly loves and is giving his all, had some horns in the background. I am SURE I wasn't hearing things and I am also positive that he mentioned someone's name in the band intros for playing on saxophone and the rest of the band applauded. Someone back me up here!
Highlights of the night were opening 3 salvos, with Memphis Blues never sounding better and I'm usually not that keen on it live. Workingman's Blues brought out some of Bob's best vocals for the night. But for me, the best of the night was an old standard, It's Alright Ma. Man they simply killed it (in a good way), with Bob spitting out the lyrics and the band on a full rock assault.
For the most part Bob was in good voice, but he did struggle at times with a bit of croaking, particularly in My Back Pages. But due to this, he seemed to be trying new deliveries and techniques, always providing some wonderful vocal moments.
On the final song for the night, Like a Rolling Stone, Bob turned into the the grumply old man from down the street, as Denny played a solo (which had nothig wrong with it) and Bob became visibly pissed off, suddenly stopping playing the keyboard, leaning against it with one arm and then beginning to tap his fingers impatiently! Donnie, who never takes his eyes off him, looked to be quite uncomfortable with this, and was giving Bob a look of "come on Bob, lighten up!". A very strange moment, which lasted for about 30-45 seconds.
All in all, a very fun and upbeat concert. Which was marred by some bad sound in the hall, with the music bouncing off the back wall.
Well worth a night trip into lovely Spain.
This was my 16th concert and I'd have to rank it somewhere in the middle. Thanks, Bob.

so you were there in person, do i understand you right? and you didnt notice if there were more musicians on stage than the usual? a sax player is not that hard to be noticed

No, I wasn't there in person, but thought I'd review a concert...
Of course I was there.
The confusion came with the fact there WASN'T any other musicians on stage, which must have meant they were playing from behind stage. Strange I know.
