A delightfully rough and untidy version of Dylan's signature song - it was the first time after ten years (almost to the day) that it opened a show. Comparing it to its ancestor from Hamburg 1998 suggests some kind of basic, reinvigorated idea: the insight that the song works fine, if not best, when down and dirty.
Play them loud.

yes, I think the '08 version works well, within Bob's present vocal possibilities.
