Mp3’s from from „Righteous to Me“ 1993 Preboards:

From Monica’s Dude: “The "official" story is that they were made by a member of Dylan's sound crew, without permission, for his personal collection. He died last year, but had arranged for the recordings to enter the collecting mainstream posthumously.
There had been rumors about such caches of line recordings; this is the first to prove itself out.

And, for what it's worth, the term "preboard" is meaningless, if not misleading. These mixes aren't "pre" anything; they're apparently all taken from taps on the mixing board. But they're not PA mixes (well, some could be) -- what they're most like are the monitor mixes sent from the board to band members, meant to accentuate whichever aspects of the music an individual used most to guide his own performance. These are often called IEMs in other collecting circles -- either Individual Earpiece Monitor, or Individual Earpiece Mix, depending on who you're talking to.”

Any listeners yet? Any comments? This show is from a period that is one of Bob's more fascinating and expressive, a time when he was going all-out musically, with an Einsteinian attitude to time (as those without such an attitude tutted and sighed about 'extended instrumental jams' ), rising the riding curve of each song. Scientific and daredevil, the music is built up and taken apart, inspected both sides up and in different lights. More than 30 years since he started making music, here we hear the sound of an emerging artist, stepping out of the fog, sparks flying. Give it a listen!
