Best european show/recording this leg? 6 Months ago
The one I keep returning too happens to be one I was lucky enough to attend-Salzburg. Best recording i've heard from Europe (and possibly the year) by Die/Wal and a a very fine gig with Bob's vocal strong and smooth and the band (in particular Denny) in great form. The predominance of L&T songs will probably put many off giving this one the top accolade but for me, it's a show that holds up really well on the recording and is a real keeper.

Salzburg (Tom Moore recording) Die Wal fucked up his own recording by choosing to sip beer throughout the gig, most of the recordings this leg have been very disappointing in fact.
Re:Best european show/recording this leg? 6 Months ago
That Tom Moore recording of Salzburg still eludes me. Leaving the issue of sound wavering aside for a moment (which I consider minor and infrequent), is it really better than Die/Wal? What I really mean is MF, how does Tom Moore's recording compare to Die/Wal when the sound isn't interfered with by the "beer sipping" theory?

I've downloaded every single 08 show from this leg and i can very easily tell you the best recordings (this leg, i think, has been very generous in terms of setlists and recordings).
[b]Best recordings:[/b] Halifax, May 21st 2008, Warsaw, June 7th 2008, Bergamo, 16th June 2008, Chātillon, June 18th 2008
Some of the shows that lack in sound quality are made up by the brilliant performance and/or crowd atmosphere. Best performance: Worcester, May 16th 2008, Lewiston, May 17th 2008, Halifax, May 21st 2008, Reykjavik, 26th May 2008 (a favourite of mine), Warsaw, June 7th 2008
The list wouldn't be fair without adding Halifax and Warsaw because the performance and atmosphere are great on both.
Im really not an expert at all when it comes to matrix recordings I just
put them together to my ears it sounds better than the best one alone but
you may think I hear things

Best sound quality:
Halifax, Warsaw (banalny), Salzburg (DieWal), Varidzin (romeo, but the audience is very talkative) and Trento (romeo)
Best performance:
- the first St. John's May 23rd
- then the whole series of shows from Helsinki June 1st to Varazdin June 13th (every of these shows has something to offer & I espcially like Tallinn, Vilnius & Salzburg)
- Toulouse, Zaragoza & Avila
