The Alpha Band + question 9 Months, 1 Week ago
Just discovered their compilation album called 'interviews,' and I really like most of the songs, but there's next to nothing about them on the web, so I tried (being a non-native) to figure out some of the lyrics myself. Anyone like to help? This is the first song:

Interviews

The first interview was at the wrestler
that made a deal to the Buck Owen's show
at the basement of the Empire State Building

And he's wearing his bronze and great belt
with an atomic armlock on a lounge
just as at the Spanish steps

And there were Ferry automobiles sitting in the ground fifty milion years ago
And there were James Brown records sitting in the ground fifty million years go
And there was adrylic paint flying through the air fifty million years ago

The next interview was at the gambler
who keeps all his money in fifty dollar bills
and floats between Dallas and Vegas and Los Angeles

And he's standing outside the Rio Motel
by a '86 Coupe de Ville with his poul cue
and he's high on bullets and a French cobweb

And he's lost four hundred dollars at the race-track yesterday
and his going down to the Tempo Club
and look for a Turkey(...)

And there was hydrogen bombs stting in the ground fifty million years ago
And there were rubber lamps sitting in the grond fifty milion years ago
And there were submarines going in the ocean fifty million years ago
And there were strange Japanese carpets sitting on the ground fifty million years ago

The last interview was (...) who owns a coin-toss game
and travels with the Ringling brothers
(...) the circus

And he works six months and he earns a couple of hundred grand
and he's sitting at the Polo Lounge with a blind (...)
drinking (...)

And the waiters all treat him like he's a mafia chieftain
and the people at the next table think that he
might be (...)

And he's laughing about all the suckers
who threw down their money trying to
impress their babies and how those (...)

And their was the holy United Nations just sitting in the ground fifty million years ago
And their was the astrodome and the superdome sitting in the ground fifty million years ago
And their was the People's Republic of China sitting in the ground fifty million years ago
And their was (...) and Sam threw his cans into the ground fifty million years ago

As for the Dylan content, for anyone who hasn't heard of them, they're basically some of the left-overs of the RTR, with Burnett, Soles, Mansfield and others. Oh, and there's a pretty nice cover of 'you angel you' on this 'best of' as well, with a Buddy Holly, Peggy Sue style intro.

Re:The Alpha Band + question 9 Months, 1 Week ago
bio
Springing in July of 1976 from Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue, the Alpha Band appeared on the music scene with high expectations. The band signed with Clive Davis and Arista Records for a reported $6 million after being together for only a few weeks and were touted by Davis as one of the most important acts to come along in years. The Alpha Band's sound, which drew from a grab-bag of American roots styles, as well as pop and rock, was centered around singer-songwriters J. Henry "T-Bone" Burnett and Steven Soles, and multi-instrumentalist David Mansfield.

The group's 1976 self-titled debut, which featured an extended lineup of drummer Matt Betton and bassist David Jackson, contained an eclectic collection of material highlighted by Burnett's impressionistic lyrics, Soles' folk-pop tunes and Mansfield's guitar, mandolin and brilliant violin. The trio of Burnett, Soles and Mansfield continued on for two more records, Spark in the Dark (1977) and the overtly Christian The Statue Makers of Hollywood (1978), before disbanding in 1979. ~ Brett Hartenbach, All Music Guide
