Masterpieces was originally released as a 3-album set in March 1978 in Japan and later that year in Australia and New Zealand, in conjuction with Dylan's 1978 Far East Tour. In 1987 a 2-CD version was released in Australia which omitted four songs ("Idiot Wind", "I Want You", "Song To Woody" and" Love Minus Zero/No Limit&quot. Then in 1991 a 3-CD version was released by Sony Music Australia which restored the dropped songs.

flashback: 32 years earlier:

In 1946, his Grandmother, Anna, took him to a Mother's Day celebration. Everybody got up to perform, but little Bobby was the only one who was listening. Then he went up to perform. He stampted his foot and commanded attention. Bobby said "If everyone in this room will keep quiet I will sing for my grandmother. I'm going to sing 'Some Sunday Morning'. The four year old did sing it, and tore the whole place apart. His encore was 'Accentuate the Positive'.

The Budokan concerts

I rate it one of Dylan's worst years. For the very reasons quoted above.
