its an ironic joke on the part of the tapers who are deliberately witholding their recordings because of the newly varied setlists, they were so eager to spread their recordings when it was roughly the same setlist appearing every show.

as a serious collector of audience recordings of bob dylan shows, i feel nothing but gratitude toward the tapers, without whom i -- and all of us -- would have nothing. bob doesn't record his own shows. either the shows are taped by a handful of intrepid fans who are willing to endure the extraordinary time, effort, risk and expense that is involved in taping a show or the shows are simply not taped at all.

accordingly, it is my very strongly held opinion that it is bad form to criticize the tapers in any way.

when someone is generous enough to give you a gift, a gift that you receive at no cost to youself, but which came at a significant cost to the giver, it is highly inappropriate to respond by saying "what the hell took you so long?"

The rain was very intense during this show,it was super difficult to even keep your feet on the ground, doubt there was anyone there taping. Very few regulars attended the show and with the conditions, don't have much hope we will get an audience tape. Thank you tapers you rock and make a great contribution to the fans.

it's been a long time since a public dylan show went completely untaped, and i doubt this 8-31-08 show was missed.
just be patient.

Pretty sure that Bob still records his shows.
There were mics at the side of the stage facing the audience + at the sound desk at the shows i saw last year.
