Idiotic? No.
Chatised? No.

Dude, your Kharma rating is like a Tiger Woods golf score, I think its you being outrageous?

Put this behind you and enjoy the great site.

Post edited by: Rubyinthebackyard, at: 2007/08/27 00:12

Re:What cereal does Bob eat? 1 Year, 4 Months ago
I read the rules. I followed the rules. I wondered here why Lost John was telling people what they could not post, especially in such an an idiotic thread. The General was raising interesting points and I wondered why he was being told to basically shut up. I was amazed that my post was then deleted.

So what are the rules? You have asked for input on what could turn this site into a place that does not suck, and I think it should be clear to anyone who wants to come here as to whether the administrators are governed by different rules than other. If so, that is fine. But it should be known.

I do think that if you administrators would engage the assistance of a web designer, this place could take off to receive more than the 5-10 messages it is getting each day. It is too much clutter around here.

Re:What cereal does Bob eat? 1 Year, 4 Months ago
the title of the thread is "what cereal does Bob eat?"

nowhere in there does it say anything about the Civil War or anything that was being discussed.

I don't understand where you're not following.

John simply said "No more Civil War/Army General talk in this thread please!" Where is he insinuating for them to shut up? Just start a new thread for it if you want to discuss it. The threads have titles for a reason.

Was that so hard?

Post edited by: Ophelia, at: 2007/08/27 03:37

Re:What cereal does Bob eat? 1 Year, 4 Months ago
My complaint is that my post was deleted.

If that is how things are going to work around here, just be honest enough to be clear up front before we invest our time and interest in this place. Is it basically going to be that everything here is at the whim of the administrator or is a criteria in place? If so, that is entirely fair, the administrator owns this place and can do as he pleases. But just be honest about your intentions.

This thread is a good example. The topic was obviously a lame attempt at humor, albeit a bit vulgar in that it is prying into a person's personal business. This topic nonetheless attracted very interesting and thought provocking observations and comments from the General. Apparently, those comments were not to the administrator's liking, so he called for the General to cease (I do admit he asked nicely, he did say please). Yet this forum is marked 'off topic'? What was the General doing wrong? When I commented on the administrator's actions, my comments were DELETED.

So, what is the criteria for this place: is every post allowed to remain at the administrator's whim? If so, I know I will not spend a lot of time here with this place, as it's a very poor design, obviously by someone who is making a real effort but just doesn't have the expertise or vision to pull it off. If it's not going to be friendly and even-handed around here, then who would want to post here except for the few autistic type of people who are already here apparently sitting in a circle just patting each other's back?

Your comment was posted after the admin said to stop, so he had every right to delete it. If you're going to sit here and bash the admins then don't expect them to take to you kindly, especially when your bashing is not necessary.

If you don't like the "lame" topic then start one that's more to your liking, that's all you gotta do. Yes the whole group of threads is called off topic, but that means off topic from Bob, it doesn't mean go off topic in every individual thread. They're started with a purpose. All you guys have to do is move the discussion elsewhere and others will follow. Do you see the others putting up such a huge stink? No.

Fine, don't spend a lot of time here. I can guarantee no one will miss you. The discussion was friendly until you came along anyhow.

You miss my point, Ophelia. I am not going to try again to make it. You are obviously just pretending to be thick and dull witted, so I won't fall into that trap, as I have in the past with other trolls.

I am not bashing anyone!!!!!!!!!!!! I entirely understand if the Administrator wants to delete threads AT HIS WHIM or cut off conversation AT HIS WHIM, but I would like to know UP FRONT what the rules are and if this practice will CONTINUE. I have simply said - respectfully and hopefully helpfully in a constructive manner - that this site would benefit greatly from someone who knew how to design a website. I would even be willing to make a donation if it would help. The people behind this website obviously have a passion and desire to create a website about Bob Dylan to replace the late, great Dylan Pool. But I bet they would be the first ones to admit that they don't have a clue about computer website designing. They need some help, obviously, and I am willing to help them and anyone else who needs some help.

helpfulfriend,
I would suggest that if you are not happy here you should pack up your scooter and head for the ocean. I have no problem with your questioning, but you seem like you are carrying some bad mojo with your choice of words towards the admin and Ophelia. It may not be your intention, but the community is responding to your posts and obviously there is something in the way you are saying it is resulting in negative temperatures. I like to listen at times, more than talk, it helps in making friends. (Most)People evolve, civilizations evolve, and the site will evolve too. If you have that much time on your hands create your own site and invite your friends.

I'll take that under consideration, but I am just trying to be helpful, it's not my intent to cause negative temperatures. I will take what you and Ophelia say and start a different thread, in which discussion about anything, including the civil war, will be welcome - just no cereal discussion

Re:What cereal does Bob eat? 1 Year, 4 Months ago
I have long been aware that what one man finds instructive and amusing, another will find tedious beyond measure. And I have always made it my rule, when conversation turns to an unpromising subject, not to turn from it it peremptorily, but to be patient, and see if some trail may be found from it to a more rewarding destination. So has been the case here. But in a company where the deeds of great men are of less interest than what they consume at breakfast, I confess I find it difficult to imagine what mutually absorbing subject we may possibly discover. But discover it we shall. Mr. LostJohn and Mr. Admin will not discover me an ungracious, or an ungrateful, guest.
