those frigging weasels at xm have done away with all day TTRH wednesdays.

i opened my xm and instead of bob found 7 million links to the idiot wind of howard stern and oprah. after i threw up in my mouth a little (and then made coffee) and canceled my xm service after almost yelling at some poor woman in india just trying to make a living i got so mad i started to cry a little and you know when you've pissed off a woman so much she cries you should remove yourself from the immediate vicinity.

i got one thing to say to the xm corporate boobs who made that decision: bite me, asshats!!!! i'm going to start downloading it for free! normally, i like to pay for stuff like that 'cause i think it's the right thing to do... but man...

i'm bummed. i liked my all day bob.

I discovered it this morning when I got in my car, and CH 2 was gone. When I got to work, I went to the unofficial XM Forums, and found out that as of today, they've axed 7 or more channels, and not only changed the names of others, but completely changed some of the formats!

Lucy, my favorite, is now called 1st wave, still touted as classic alternative, but now playing The Police and Joe Jackson?!?! And now there's a DJ yammering away too, about nothing even remotely connected to the channel's format!

People on the XM forums are furious, it was totally unannounced by XM except for a leaked copy of the new channel list that escaped on Friday. I'm not sure yet if I'll cancel, since the '40s channel and Bluesville are so far unscathed, and I don't have any terrestrial radio available that is listen-able.

Tom Petty's Buried Treasure S4 is premiering tomorrow as well, and unlike TTRH, there aren't any downloads out there that I know of.

Since my receiver's in my car, and my (internet) satellite connection at home doesn't allow for streaming audio, so being able to catch TTRH and Buried Treasure, between interruptions at work, all day long was wonderful.

Someone on the forums said he called to cancel, and they offered him a year's sub for $77 if he didn't cancel. Did they make you a similar offer?

XM treats their customers like dirt, not even giving them a hint that this was going to happen. All the time saying the merger wasn't going to change anything that they already were already offering.

man... i had a similar rude awakening! normally i fire it up tuesday nights when i get home from work because it's already on, (and then listen to it 4 or 5 times on wednesdays while i putter around and clean the house etc... it was SO perfect 'cause i have wednesdays off), but the site was down last night and then this morning... no XMX!!!

then i made the mistake of trying to find it on the damn schedule, which is now so cumbersome to navigate i 'bout ripped my hair out. even using their "search" feature i couldn't find it, it just kept spitting out channels that play bob, but no TTRH no matter what i put in it. i finally found the damn schedule by looking in the TTRH forum on ER.

they didn't offer me anything when i called to cancel, because i only had an online subscription they just told me to cancel it online.... and so i did. i'm sure they play other really great music but the only reason i had the damn thing was for TTRH so it's pretty frustrating that with the schedule they have it on now i'll only be able to catch it once with my work schedule... thursday nights at 9:00pm... those asshats! i did send them 2 emails telling them why i was canceling and what giant idiots i thought they were. i'm sure they'll read those and get right back to me.

on top of the no warning, crappy navigation, and can't even find it on the schedule to be assaulted continuously with howard stern and oprah around every corner... i cannot think of two people i'd rather listen to less. i'm sure they probably get better ratings, but this just enforces my already rock bottom loathing of corporate screw-great-art-over-for-money tom fuckery.

i hope they all get the frigging clap, and bob finds a better home eventually. i'd really be bummed if he quit doing them altogether. that would suck in a monumental way, i love that show. i frigging look forward to it all week.

It starts out really great - a nitche - a cool little corner you sort of call your own - then the Corp big boys come in and wanna play too - suddenly everything changes - over greed really - they limit access - or charge more - or cut channels...

oh you better believe i canceled... like the wind, whoosh man. i couldn't click the damn button fast enough.

the other thing that really chaps me is the prominence that XM used to extend to bob and his show seemed a nice sign of respect. now it's 10,000 pages of stern and you can't find TTRH with a map, a flashlight, a sherpa, and gps.

man i do not like stern. if i met him i'd probably introduce my knee to his scrotum for every crappy thing he's ever said about women, that fuckwit. to remove bob who does a show based on his love for music, his very enjoyable goofy humor, the poetry, the silly facts and the really great stories about the artists with someone like stern????

it just makes the whole sucky thing exponentially worse.

and. they have a 24/7 led zeppelin channel. but not bob 1 day a week.
