"Modern Times" is two years old 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I wrote a special blog for the anniversary, but unfortunately Karl didn't include the link on ExpectingRain this morning. Here it is:

Thanks a lot, that's excellent. I must admit I'm still not much of a fan of MT itself and I'm still not completely convinced of the quality of the songs but I really love the live performances of most of these songs in the last two years. I haven't yet tired of listening to live versions especially of "Thunder", "Deal", "Spirit" & "Ain't Talkin'"

Great read, rc, and especially so given your many ties, or connections, to other albums and non-MT songs. Thanks!

The songs that came out after Love&Theft ansd before MT were really great

Things Have Changed
Waitin for you
Cross the green mountain
Tell Ol Bill

so im still a little bit frustrated that MT doesnt give me as much as
the mentioned songs

Huck's Tune is better than most of MT also.

Things Have Changed came out in 2000, pre L&T.

Thunder on the Mountain, Spirit, When the Deal Goes Down, Someday Baby, Workingman's Blues, Nettie Moore, and Ain't Talkin' are all better than Huck's Tune.

I must congratulate Ragged Clown on what is a very intelligent and insightful review, objectivity is hard to come by these days. I remember defending everything Bob did in the late 80s and early 90s, I recall being up in arms over the newspaper reviews of his UK shows which were extremely negative, now those same newspapers are falling over their heels to write up positive reviews

The world is a place that is damn bloody hard to figure out, I no longer pay any attention to what the media say about Bob or anyone or anything else for that matter
