Crooner Bob: If You Were Compiling a Disc of ... 5 Days, 15 Hours ago

...Bob's Crooner-Styled Songs, What Would You Include?
Eg., "Moonlight" and "Bye And Bye." Studio recordings (official and outtakes) only, please.
Name any one song, but no more than 12. It doesn't matter if someone else has already suggested a song that you believe belongs on such a disc. Name it, regardless. I'm wanting to get a sense (or, consensus) of what are thought to be his best croonimg-styled recordings.
Thanks, in advance.

That's a surprising selection, John. Could you tell what the "crooning effect" in "Highlands" and "'Til I Fell in Love with You" is? In both songs, Dylan more or less recites the lyrics, his "singing voice" hardly comes to the fore. It'd be interesting to know whether you hear something "different" in these songs.

Stefan,
Yeah, I do hear a 'croon' in those two songs on some live performances of the songs. His modern-day talkin'-sing style can just as easily be called a talkin' blues song or a Croon. It all depends on how you (personally) hear it at that moment. Again, not the substance of the lyric, but the delivery of it. The second ever "Highlands" comes across as a blend of "I'll Remember You" and "Make You Feel My Love" in the delivery and sound of his voice in some live performaces. Two songs you surely could identify croon-worthy. So why not Highlands I guess?
The earlier versions of "Till I Fell In Love With YOu" fit a similar mold. The vocals up and down, wailing, wanting, wondering...I imagine substituting the blues instrumentation with some jazzy sounds and bingo...we're going crooning.
